I AM DISGUSTED! How can someone put so much effort and intelligence in doing evil? No, I am not talking about Harvey. For someone like that, I would have much stronger words.
I am referring to his lawyer. Lisa Bloom. In case you do not know her. She is the daughter of the most elite lawyer defending rape victims Gloria Allred. Gloria is an American women’s rights attorney known for taking high-profile, particularly those involving the protection of women’s rights. She and her firm are leading the charge against Bill Cosby, for example. Lisa followed in the footsteps of her mother. She and her firm also took high profile cases and have been responsible for the firing of Bill O’Reilly from Fox News.
If the story stopped there, it would be all good. Mother and daughter are making the world a better place by going after the worst sexual predators. Unfortunately, it didn’t stop there. For some reason that I will probably never understand, Lisa Bloom decided to flip to the other side. She chose to defend Harvey Weinstein against his sexual assaults cases. And she was good at it for a long time (sadly). Let’s look at all the dirty tricks they used. They are deceptively powerful. This is the reason why people need to realize how far one can go. In this world, there is no such thing as the truth always prevails. People, some evil people know how to bend the game. Here are some extracts of the memo Lisa Bloom sent to Harvey Weinstein:
Number one, initiating friendly contact with her through other good intermediaries or me, and after establishing a relationship, work out a win-win. Key question — what does she want?
Number two, counter ops, online campaign to push back and call her out as a pathological liar. A few well-placed articles now will go a long way if things blow up for us down the line. We can place an article re her becoming increasingly unglued so that when someone Googles her, this is what pops up and she is discredited. We have all the facts based on publicly available information. This can begin simultaneously with number one.
Number three, cease-and-desist letter from me warning her of the violation of the agreement with you. Risk: she posts the message online, generating heat and backlash.
Number four, you and I come out publicly in a preemptive interview where you talk about evolving on women’s issues prompted by the death of your mother and maybe nasty, unfounded, hurtful rumors about you. This will be headline-grabbing if you express genuine regret for anyone who you hurt while emphasizing it was always adult consensual behavior. You thought that was enough at the time, but now realize it’s more nuanced, that a power imbalance means something, et cetera. It is so key from a reputation management standpoint to be the first to tell the story. I strongly recommend this. Because you need to create doubts in public opinion, no need to 100% convince people. DISGUSTING. The facts are disgusting. Facts alone are not enough. A lot is about how we perceive them. Yes, even without fake news, you can still deceive people. This is a sad reality, but a reality we should all be aware of.
